RWC 2011 Kicks Off!

Hi Weka Class,

We will be using our blog site during the World Cup.

The first thing I would like you to do is to post a comment about your second team. Remember that this is the team you have chosen to follow (Not the All Blacks or France if you are Thomas).

Include some interesting facts you have gathered about the team or the country.
I would also like you to record the results from your teams matches and any statistics you can find.

Good Luck.

Mr Douglas.

Maori Language Week

Kia Ora Weka Class,

What an exciting week we have had!

I have really enjoyed learning aspects of Maori Language with you.
My highlight has been learning and taking part in the hangi process.
Digging the pit, heading to school at 6:00am to light the crates, moving the hot irons, packing the food parcels into the basket, lining the basket with cabbage leaves, sealing the basket with soaked sheets and sacks and then finally lowering the kai into the pit (and trying not to fall in!)

Enjoying the kai at the end was also great.

  • I would like you to share your highlights from Maori Language week by posting your comments below.

  • I also would like to hear some ideas from you about how we can continue to grow our experiences from Maori Language week. What could we start doing or continue doing in class? I am really keen to improve our Te Reo speaking and look forward to hearing from you.
Mr Douglas.

Ultimate Frisbee

Hi Weka Class,

I am sure you have all enjoyed learning how to play Ultimate Frisbee. Thank you to Mr Salter for teaching us!

Below I would like you to post your thoughts and comments about Ultimate Frisbee. I would also like you to include the rules you can remember.

We will be using a lesson plan that Mr Salter has prepared for us when we play next time. Mr Salter might even be able to come and have a game with us again soon.

PB4L character

Hi Weka class,

As you know we have a new class mate and it is up to you to give him a name.

He will be our PB4L 'leader'

He will help keep our tokens safe and will be an excellent role model for us to follow.

We will have a vote in class tomorrow to decide on his name.

Post your ideas for a name below. I would also like you to write about the qualities you would like him to have. For example: A good sense of humour...

Good Luck,

Mr Douglas.
